What are Hemorrhoids?
Hemorrhoids, or piles, as they are also known, are swollen or inflamed veins in your anus which have become irritated. They are similar to varicose veins except where the vein protrudes. only they are veins are around the opening of the anus, which can sometimes be more embarrassing and painful.
When the veins swell and become engorged, they can affect the part of the anal canal just above the sphincter where it is less well supported and protected causing Internal Hemorrhoids. When it affects the veins at the lower end of the canal, these can cause External Hemorrhoids. Either of these are quite uncomfortable in most cases and can become severe in some cases.

There are several symptoms of Hemorrhoids, which could be any one of a number of medical conditions. The best advice if you’re not sure, is to see a doctor as soon as possible. It is always best to go to your doctor and find out if your condition has become worse over time.
Some of the main symptoms of Hemorrhoids are :
Passing painful bowel movements.
Burning or itching.
Painful or tender fleshy lumps in the anal area.
Pain when sitting down.
Normally these symptoms are very uncomfortable but most times will not stop you from your day to day business. However, in a few rare situations, they can be very painful if they are associated with a splitting of the anus (known as an anal fissure).

1. Eat a lot of foods rich in fiber. This can help to prevent constipation which can aggravate the condition.
2. Drinking lots of fresh water will also help as it hydrates you and makes your stool softer. Try to avoid sitting for long periods of time and get make time to stretch out and stand up every hour or so.
3. Avoid too much red meat. Meat is hard to digest and for some people, makes it hard to pass a soft stool.
4. Wash with warm water and keep clean.
